Why Service Accounts?

Until now you needed a new client in your OpenIDConnect Provider for every new interface. While this works fine it comes with some drawbacks. You need to manage the lifecycle of these accounts and you need to make sure that all the policies and password rules of your company are applied.

With Service Accounts you can leverage the processes and governance already in place in your Organisation. You only need one client and all interface accounts will be managed in your Active Directory or LDAP.

How-to set it up?

Simply let SMILEconnect know which attribute of your JWT will contain the client name. This is done with the SSO_CLIENTNAME_ATTRIBUTE environment variable of the API. See the docs for details on this.
